Notes formating in Latex/PDF (General)

When I include a note into the Latex document via <%notes%> all spaces are removed. I tried to enclose the note between

\begin{verbatim}
<%notes%>
\end{verbatim}

no success. Any idea how to keep the formatting (at least the spaces) in the notes?

Welcome to coding in Latex/Tex. Latex is a powerful markup language, but has some nasty traits, #1 spaces are not significant, ie 1 space is the same as 2 spaces, or 4 spaces to latex. Extra blank lines are treated the same way. There are commands in Latex where you can possition things exactly on the page. Commands like \vspace \hspace. I am not sure if you can use shift space 'chr(160)' and get Tex to leave them alone you can try it out. Other than that hard to say how I would do it, without knowing what is in the notes field.
