My DNS is handled by a separate firewall so I'll have to look there to see if SPF and DKIM are set.

I'm using sendmail to deliver the mail and I've set the "Smarthost" to that of my ISP.

I think I've got a naming problem that is the cause but I'm not 100% sure. All of my internal servers, including the one for SQL-Ledger are behind a FreeBSD firewall here in my shop. I also have a website that is hosted and has it's own fixed IP, 'out on the www'

My website address is Companyname.com and resolves to the static IP.

I've named the server inside the firewall Server3.Companyname.com but it's IP is a 192.168.xxx.xxx address that is a fixed address by the DNS server that is part of the firewall.

I'm wondering if the fact that the mail is coming from an internal server, that doesn't have the same IP as the DNS that the name resolves to outside, is causing some of the better spam filters to reject it.

These issues might need to be handled outside SQL-Ledger.
Have you enabled SPF and DKIM records in your DNS settings ?
While providing no guarantees, these records may increase your prospects of
successful email delivery to your customers.
What mailserver delivers your outgoing emails ? Exim or Postfix perhaps ?
Does your mailserver add DKIM headers to your outgoing emails including
Invoices ?

And IF you're also running a public facing webserver, there's other things
you can do to confirm email delivery of invoices, statements, etc.
